Strawberry Sponge Cupcakes

I have always loved going to weddings. Weddings are such a happy time because everyone is celebrating love. However, throughout the years, I have liked weddings for different reasons. Right now, it’s about celebrating love and no one is really sad, but when I was a child, I used to like to go to weddings to see the bride all dressed up and the most important part… THE CAKE.

Porto’s Bakery and Cafe

DSC_1137

My last trip to SoCal was very productive, in regards to being a foodie. I had so many delicious sweets and meals (yes, sweets come first!) that I didn’t get to try all that I wanted to when I was there. I guess I’m just lucky enough to even try these places. I shall go back and try something different when I have the chance.

Chocolate Whoopie Pies

I usually bake by myself. It’s a way to relax and take my mind off things. I love to wake up in the morning and bake something sweet so that the day starts off just a bit sweeter than not baking at all.

However, it is also fun baking with other people who enjoy baking too. I had just discovered that my old friend, T-, loves to bake too. I finally found a baking buddy!

Portland: Voodoo Doughnut

DSC_0984

M- told us about this tourist attraction. She said everyone who goes to Portland goes to Voodoo Doughnut. It’s quite funny though, because she’s lived there for 10 years and she just recently went here for the first time. She went with W- and I to here for her second time.

I would suggest going to their website and deciding what you want because the menu is so tiny!

Yes, I have a clear picture of the menu, but you can’t read it when you are at the back of the shop!

Voodoo gets extremely popular apparently too!

Portland: Saint Cupcake

DSC_0953

After having a delicious lunch at Dick’s Kitchen, we all decided that we were craving cupcakes. It was quite a coincidence really that we ate dessert here. What I have been doing lately before I go on these mini trips is look for a good cupcake or bakery in the area. The one I stumbled upon was Saint Cupcake. I didn’t tell M- that I wanted to go this place yet, but her friend C- was craving cupcakes and the place that we happened to go was Saint Cupcake.

Las Vegas Eats Part 2

This past weekend, I took another trip to Las Vegas. There was lots of fun to be had. Family came because we were there for a wedding. It was an intimate wedding with close friends and immediate family. I enjoyed it. But I’m not here to talk about the wedding; I’m here to discuss the food that I ate while I was in Vegas.

Serendipity 3
First stop: Serendipity of course! When we first landed, we were starving. I instantly said we should eat at Serendipity. I swear, they have the best french fries and deep-fried oreos. I would have ordered the deep-fried oreo sundae again, but we agreed that we should try something different. This time, we ordered the Jackpot Sundae (or so I think it’s called). It is basically dark chocolate ice cream and strawberry ice cream with strawberry and chocolate syrup, strawberries, and whipped cream.

I enjoyed this sundae very much, but it was quite rich and we weren’t able to finish it all. I’m sorry jackpot sundae, but you made us full to quickly.

Pink’s Hot Dogs
I wanted to go here when I visited Vegas back in March, but we just didn’t have enough time to walk all the way down to Planet Hollywood for these dogs. This time, since we stayed in a closer hotel, we were able to enjoy the beauty that is Pink’s.

I ordered the chili dog, since it was the most popular one. It was also my first time having a hot dog with chili on it too. That was a mistake. I found out that I am not a big fan of chili. So while the hot dog was delicious, the chili on top was not (to me at least). Next time I come here, I am ordering what I am familiar with… just a plain hot dog.

Irvine Eats

Last month, my mom and I went to visit my brother down in Irvine. Why, do you ask? Well, for starters, he goes to school down there. He’s a junior in college. It’s also my first time visiting his school. Finally, right? Well, every time my parents went, I always had a reason to stay behind. I figured it was finally time to check it out.

It was also an excuse for a mini-vacation and all the different selections of food. I had a plenty to eat while I was down there and was very pleased at where I ate. Let’s take a look at a few of the most enjoyable places.
