Have you ever watched the show, DC Cupcakes, on TLC? I remember when it first aired in 2010. It was interesting to see how they build their big projects with a whole bunch of cupcakes. I must admit that it is a pretty clever idea, but I think it doesn’t look as good as a whole cake (such as in Cake Boss on TLC).
My last trip to SoCal was very productive, in regards to being a foodie. I had so many delicious sweets and meals (yes, sweets come first!) that I didn’t get to try all that I wanted to when I was there. I guess I’m just lucky enough to even try these places. I shall go back and try something different when I have the chance.
After having a delicious lunch at Dick’s Kitchen, we all decided that we were craving cupcakes. It was quite a coincidence really that we ate dessert here. What I have been doing lately before I go on these mini trips is look for a good cupcake or bakery in the area. The one I stumbled upon was Saint Cupcake. I didn’t tell M- that I wanted to go this place yet, but her friend C- was craving cupcakes and the place that we happened to go was Saint Cupcake.
Last month, my mom and I went to visit my brother down in Irvine. Why, do you ask? Well, for starters, he goes to school down there. He’s a junior in college. It’s also my first time visiting his school. Finally, right? Well, every time my parents went, I always had a reason to stay behind. I figured it was finally time to check it out.
It was also an excuse for a mini-vacation and all the different selections of food. I had a plenty to eat while I was down there and was very pleased at where I ate. Let’s take a look at a few of the most enjoyable places.
Last month I went to Vegas with a few friends. We all needed a vacation and it was time to party and eat like there’s no tomorrow! I knew I had to visit a few good restaurants here since there are so many of them! I chose the following ones for a couple reasons.
My last bakery visit in LA. I had no idea that there was a Magnolia’s in LA until my dessert lunch at Joan’s on Third. We were walking back to our hotel when we spotted this teal and white shop that looked so appealing to me. I didn’t notice until we were walking closer to it that it was a Magnolia’s! I was so excited because I have heard so many good things about their baked goods.
Don’t just think that I’m done with all the special goodies that I had in LA two weekends ago. I still have a couple more to share with you.
Chinese New Year is a glorious celebration. It’s always fun to hear about all the superstitions of the new year. Somehow, every year I learn a new one. Did you know that egg rolls resemble gold bars and that represents wealth for the new year? Also, this year, I was able to catch the Chinese New Year Celebration in Chinatown San Francisco on my journey to the Golden Gate Bakery.
