Las Vegas Eats

Last month I went to Vegas with a few friends. We all needed a vacation and it was time to party and eat like there’s no tomorrow!  I knew I had to visit a few good restaurants here since there are so many of them! I chose the following ones for a couple reasons.

Bouchon Bakery
I heard about this bakery a few months before I went to Vegas. I was browsing through food blogs and came across Tiny Urban Kitchen’s post on her trip to Vegas. I’ve heard quite a few good things about the TKO (Thomas Keller Oreo), so I had to try some of their baked goods.

W- got a chocolate eclair.

I got the TKO of course.

I really enjoyed the two pieces that we ordered. I wish we could have had more but 1) it’s expensive and 2) we weren’t that hungry (we had these for a late breakfast).

We were being dummies since we could not find a place to sit down and eat these, since Bouchon’s is just a little kiosk next to the Phantom of the Opera theater. While we were looking, we were thinking if there was a place to sit near the bakery and we weren’t looking hard enough. We wound up just eating it outside of Caesar’s Palace after 10 minutes of searching.

Mesa Grill
One of the reasons why we headed down to Las Vegas is to celebrate N-‘s birthday. She really wanted to eat at Bobby Flay’s restaurant, and being the foodie that I am, thought it was a fantastic idea!

There’s a bread basket that you get before you start ordering. There were three different kinds of bread: walnut, jalapeno, and corn bread. I enjoyed the first two breads very much. The walnut bread was a kind of sweet bread and the jalapeno bread was not too spicy but had a little kick to it. Both quite scrumptious.

Left to Right: Walnut bread, corn bread, jalapeno bread.

For my appetizer I had the Yucatan Chicken Tacos. This was to die for! The peanut sauce goes perfectly with the chicken… and I also have a thing for mini foods. These mini tacos were the cutest!

My main entree was chicken again (can’t you tell I love chicken)… Sixteen Spice Chicken with mango green onion salsa with some cilantro pesto mashed potatoes. I absolutely loved my dishes. Great flavor and you will enjoy each and every single bite.

Overall, this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the waiters are very helpful in choosing dishes and will definitely not let your water glass go empty. I really enjoyed this place and most definitely go back… if you can get a reservation.

N- reserved for all five of us quite a few hours ahead of time, but somehow, they booked us without having any room for us. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes, and we got our seats. While we were waiting, the place was getting pretty packed. But then again, it was a Friday night. Lesson learned: make sure they have room for us! Once you get in, you’ll love the food!

The Buffet at Wynn Hotel
When you’re in Vegas, you have to go to at least one buffet! My friends and I went to the Wynn for a Saturday brunch. It’s one of the things that N- really wanted to do since last time she came here, she loved it, plus they also offer a champagne brunch. Their food was quite tasty, but I couldn’t wait to try their desserts. They had a whole room dedicated to desserts.

I got a whole plate of dessert after eating my meal and I was so excited to try them since they were all mini and cute! I was slightly disappointed because not all of them tasted great. I loved the pink frosting and the strawberry cheesecake (the shot glass with the white foam), but the other ones were mediocre. I think the main courses were better than the dessert. However, I did end up getting gelato and that tasted delicious.

Serendipity 3
The place that I was most looking forward to eat was Serendipity. Ever since I saw the movie with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, I wanted to go there. For the longest time, I thought there was only one location in New York, but thank goodness there was another one in Las Vegas! I wanted me some frozen hot chocolate!

W- and A- came along to eat with me at Serendipity’s on our last day in Vegas and we had lunch here as well. I got the cheeseburger and fries. The fries were probably the best I have ever tasted. It is crispy and has a hint of sweetness to it, which makes them taste so much better!

For dessert I got the original frozen hot chocolate. After trying it, it’s basically a fancy way of calling it a chocolate milkshake. I did enjoy it very much. It wasn’t too sweet and there was plenty of whipped cream for me to go along with the chocolate.

W- got the Deep-Fried Oreo Sundae. I must admit that I after I tried this one, I liked this one much better. You have not lived until you tried a deep-fried oreo. It’s super crispy and goes great with the sundae.

I would love to come back here again and try the other sundaes that Serendipity’s has to offer. They’re meals are also pretty delicious as well. You will not be hungry after eating here, I’ll tell you that. Your tummy will be very happy!

After only three full days of staying in Sin City, these are the only places I had a chance to eat at. Hopefully I can make another trip here so I can try some more great eats here.

Jalepeno bread… that is just genius!
